60ml Woodford Reserve Bourbon
10ml Cointreau (triple sec, if you're nasty)
15ml Spiced Apple Syrup (It was a brown sugar syrup with a bunch of these thrown in)
25ml Lemon Juice
2 Dashes Fee Brothers Whiskey Barrel Aged Bitters
1 Dash Fee Brothers Walnut Bitters
Topped up with Heineken 00 (It was in the fridge, give me a break)
Add all the ingredients to a shaker, except for the Heineken (you can use real beer, don't be pedantic)
Give it the ole Razzle Dazzle (ice it up and shake it. Make a note of that because that's how I'm saying this from now on)
Strain into a high ball glass filled with ice
Top with beer. You're best off using a pilsner light beer like Miller High Life, Modelo or Pacifico
Garnish with a lemon wheel
Refresh like a boss
Now then! I may have mentioned a couple of times that I usually prefer my cocktails to taste like a delicious punch in the mouth, but sometimes you just need something that refreshes you while it gets you drunk.
The Lynchburg Lemonade has always been one of my favourite long cocktails since I:
A) Started enjoying drinking
B) Realised I was really sensitive (physically and emotionally) to caffeine. I don't mean I break out in hives or anything. I just mean that if I have a diet coke after 6pm, I won't sleep til a week on Tuesday. So I started drinking whiskey lemonade.
While that is a fine drink in and of itself, if you have a bottle of something as delicious as Woodford Reserve, you treat it with some damn respect.
The Lynchburg Lemonade is one of the signature drinks for Jack Daniels... because it's distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Really phoned it in with the name there, guys.
Quick note, because it's not made in Kentucky, Jack Daniels isn't bourbon. It's whiskey. Tennessee Whiskey, to be precise
This drink is super easy to make. The original recipe doesn't even call for shaking it. It's the kind of thing you can make a big batch of, pour 2 shots over ice and top with lemonade, beer, ginger beer, ginger ale...
It's a great summer drink. The lemon balances out the sweetness of the apple while giving a mouth-watering sharpness.... I am really bad at the pretentious side of describing cocktails.
Basically, drink it when it's sunny. It will make your mouth wet.
On that note... peace ooooot
Oh yeah, Boilermakers are straight up gangster. Get a decent bottle of beer, find a good whiskey/whisky, give it a lil sip and sip. Drink the beer, sip the whisk(e)y, it is magic.
